About the 14C28N Steel
The Nord uses 14C28N, a martensitic stainless chromium steel developed by Swedish steelmaker Alleima, formerly known as Sandvik. Alleima specifically formulates 14C28N for professional knife applications, with a combination of excellent edge performance, high hardness and good corrosion resistance. The manufacturer recommends it for knives where edge sharpness, edge stability and corrosion resistance are important, including hunting and fishing knives. Alleima gives 14C28N a recommended hardness range of 55–62 HRC, although the actual hardness of an individual Helle Nord blade should not be assumed from the steel's general specification.
The Helle Nord combines modern full-tang construction with Helle's long Scandinavian knife-making tradition. Its substantial 14C28N blade and carefully shaped handle make it a capable companion for bushcraft, camping and general wilderness work, while the traditional leather sheath provides a practical way to carry the knife in the field.
