About H3LS Triple Laminated Stainless Steel
H3LS, or Helle Triple Laminate Stainless, is Helle's proprietary laminated stainless steel. Helle describes the construction as a highly corrosion-resistant 304 stainless outer layer surrounding a high-carbon core developed from its proprietary family recipe. The outer layer provides flexibility and resistance to rust, while the harder core is designed to take a very sharp edge and provide high toughness. Helle specifies a hardness of 58–60 HRC for H3LS. The laminated construction is intended to combine the edge characteristics of the harder core with the durability and corrosion resistance of the outer layers, making it well suited to Helle's traditional outdoor knives.
