The M1945 US Army Field Cargo Pack is an original military-surplus cargo bag from the U.S. Army's M1945 Combat & Cargo Pack system. Made from olive cotton canvas, this section of the original pack system was designed to provide additional carrying capacity and could also be used independently as a carrying bag. The surplus stock offered by Mitchells is used, so individual examples may show variations in colour, condition and construction details.
History & Design
The M1945 Combat & Cargo Pack was developed during the final stages of the Second World War as an updated U.S. Army load-carrying system. The system consisted of separate combat and cargo components that could be worn together or separately. The cargo section attached beneath the combat pack and was intended for items such as shelter equipment, spare clothing and other personal gear. It could also be detached and carried independently using its own handle. Although introduced too late for widespread WWII service, the M1945 system became part of U.S. Army equipment used during the Korean War.

The M1945 Field Pack Cargo is an interesting piece of genuine military equipment with a design that reflects the U.S. Army's transition to a more flexible, modular load-carrying system in the final months of WWII. Its historical use through the Korean War and continued practicality as a standalone carrying bag make it particularly appealing to military collectors, re-enactors and users of genuine vintage field equipment.
Most of the stock we have were issued to South Korean forces by the U.S. Army and therefore have some Korean markings and writing.
