The Helle Sigmund is a traditional Norwegian all-purpose outdoor knife that brings together two generations of Helle family design. The blade follows a pattern created by Sigmund Helle in the 1930s, while the distinctive handle was designed by his son Torodd in 2012. About the H3LS Steel
The Sigmund uses Helle's proprietary H3LS (Helle Triple Laminate Stainless) steel. Helle's laminated construction combines a highly stainless 304 steel outer layer with a high-carbon core developed from the company's family steel recipe. The outer layer provides flexibility and strong resistance to rust, while the high-carbon core is designed to take a very sharp edge with high toughness. Helle specifies H3LS at 58–60 HRC. The laminated construction allows Helle to combine the corrosion resistance and flexibility of the outer steel with the edge characteristics and toughness of the harder core.
The Helle Sigmund combines practical outdoor functionality with a distinctive piece of Norwegian knife-making history.
