The COBRA Reproduction Field Knife - Feldmesser 78 is based on the well-known Austrian military field knife design introduced in the late 1970s. The Feldmesser 78 is recognised for its straightforward fixed-blade design and practical format, and has been used by military and other uniformed organisations in several countries.
This reproduction captures the characteristic appearance of the Feldmesser 78, including its plain blade without the sawback found on the Feldmesser 81 variant. The design incorporates a practical fixed blade with a moulded-style handle and matching sheath, making it suitable for collectors of military-pattern knives as well as appropriate outdoor and field applications.
The original Feldmesser 78 was developed as a military field knife and was also designed with a bayonet mounting arrangement for compatible rifles. This reproduction does not have the hardware to attach to a firearm as a bayonet.
