The traditional N°08 pocket knife is available with a stainless steel blade which provides excellent corrosion resistance and features a beech wood handle which makes it feel secure and comfortable in the hand. The N°08 is the most popular knife in the collection, which has a design history stretching back to 1897. This multi-purpose knife is a handy tool to use day-to-day.
This fantastic knife is manufactured in Chambery, Savoie France, deep in the French Alps. The Opinel series of folding knives has a design history stretching back to 1897 when Joseph Opinel designed and developed a compact folding pocket knife aimed at local villagers and farmers. He developed the knife with a focus on simplicity, robustness and functionality which has stood the test of time for over 120 years. Enjoyed by many the world over as a camping knife, for fishing, in the garden, the kitchen, anywhere you need a quality cutting tool.
The Yatagan shaped blade is inspired by the traditional Turkish sabre and features a convex profile which provides greater resistance to cutting compared with an ordinary flat ground blade of comparable hight and spin thickness. This blade profile minimises the contact between the blade and the cut material which reduces the friction and as a result the cutting power required. Made with Swedish 12C27 modified stainless steel, the blade is extremely resistant to corrosion due to the addition of chrome and required no special maintenance. With a carbon content of a minimum of 0.40%, it gives you a superb cutting edge which has good resistance to abrasion, allowing the blade to be used on hard surfaces like ceramic and marble, without the need to be resharpened.
Whether used as a main knife or as a companion blade for your camping kit, the Opinel is a high quality and good value knife that will serve you well for years.
